Tarot Card for this Lunation

What is a New Moon?  During a New Moon, observed from the point of the Earth, the Sun and Moon come together in the celestial vault and unite creating a con-junction. Energetically, the Sun and the Moon are located in our brain (Lunar Brain = thinking patterns, imagination, dreams) and in our solar plexus (Solar Brain = creative power, digestion, metabolism, nourishment) therefore, during a new moon, we are encouraged to refine the conjunction (yoga) between the way we think and act, between what we want and what we truly need, between processings ideas and digesting food.

Suggested Asana: any posture that allows you to bring your head closer to your solar plexus such as Dharmika Asana, a posture that is excellent for digestive health and mental grounding.

The New Moon in Pisces will be exact when the Sun and Moon conjunct at 23*03’ in the early hours of March 13, 2021. Pisces is the twelfth and final sign of the Zodiac, before the beginning of a new Zodiac year commencing with the Spring Equinox, and the sign of Aries, on March 20, 2021. And what a year this has been! Be mindful of the pull of Aries and spring (in the Northern Hemisphere) and make sure you take time before then to complete, conclude, and digest.  Pisces is fully reliant on connectivity, community; it’s the dual-fish connected within the Ocean’s unending medium. The quality of water does not permit bifurcation or separation. Water also carries an immense pressure the deeper we go within.

As long as the Sun is in Pisces, it is necessary that we pause, blissfully, to go into the depths to find conclusion and completion within connection and consciousness. This is a moment of backward glances that make cohesive sense of the entirety of experience in the solar year. This lunation is about consciousness and, more specifically, about the awareness of consciousness. The important message in this New Moon is a learning to observe the mind through the observation of your experience of the world. We’re talking about emotional intelligence: in this context, the practice is engaging your emotions as if they were a performance, occurring always outside of who you are. No judgment, no exaltation: just observation leading to awareness.

The New Moon will conjunct Venus at 19*43’ in Pisces and Neptune at 20*43’ in Pisces. This is a deeply spiritual time. Neptune is at home in Pisces, conjunct Venus, the Sun, and the Moon during this lunation. Venus reminds us that there is pleasure in flow, in water, in tears, in emotion; even challenges and mistakes contain an inner beauty. Venus here asks us to find beauty in this moment of crystalline bliss in the higher teachings that come from an expanded consciousness. The sextile to Pluto allows a moment of relaxation after a year of Pluto’s upheavals.

Action Step: study the connection between inner and outer nature

Uranus in Taurus, via this square to Saturn, asks us to rethink our connection to the Earth. From small gestures (reusing plastic bags, avoiding single-use disposable containers) to larger gestures (cleaning up parks) — Uranus in Taurus is adamant that we step up and reorganize our systems of connectivity to the planet. Sustainability as a structure for transformation is a critical introduction of this aspect, in terms of our relation to biology: our bodies, our ecosystems, our planet. It is an opportunity to learn from nature as a spiritual guide.

Need: Increase the awareness of your awareness (consciousness)

How: Observing the mind observing your experience of the World, i.e. experience consciousness = meditation / creativity

Meditation takes many forms: walking, planting flowers, drawing, playing music, making love. Creativity, too: write, talk to animals, cook a new recipe!  Listen to a calming meditation recorded live in the woods of Tuscany.
